Packd

Ask any parent about keeping up with school communications, and they’ll tell you it’s a full-time job.

We’ve missed events buried at the bottom of emails in the past, and nearly sent Elvis in the wrong coloured socks for “wear red socks” day. So I built Packd, which reads the school emails and pulls out all events and deadlines.

It’s something I’ve been thinking about for a while, but in my head it was a huge project where you could ask a chatbot questions, and mark actions as complete.

Looking at it through the lens of shipping something every week meant I focused on what was really important and could get something out and usable quickly.

The most fun part of this was using evals for the event extraction prompt, and asking Claude to iterate on the prompt until we got enough accuracy and completeness.
